Ashlee Simpson files for divorce from Pete Wentz

Ashlee Simpson has split from her husband of two and a half years and has filed for divorce.
The singer, 26, married former Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, 31, in May 2008 and have two-year-old son Bronx Mowgli together.
The blonde cited 'irreconcilable differences' in the documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday.
TMZ have reported that Ashlee is seeking joint legal custody and primary physical custody of their toddler. She has requested that Pete be granted visitation rights.
She is also asking for spousal and child support.  The couple reportedly did not sign  a prenuptial agreement.
In a statement to Mail Online the couple said: 'After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce'.
'We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our No. 1 priority.
'We ask that everyone honour our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives.'
The court papers were signed on Monday by Simpson-Wentz who took her husband's last name but she is now seeking to go back to her maiden name.
True to their statement the couple were pictured holding hands and seemed to be on great terms over the weekend as they spent time together as a family with Bronx.
All these celebrity divorces are really starting to annoy me. It's almost like marriage is a joke these days and not just for celebrities. I'm amazed at how the divorce rate in Nigeria among young couples have gone up too. When i was in Nigeria, i could count less than 5 people who were divorced. No one wants to stick out the difficult times these days. Irreconcilable differences my foot. When you rush in without even getting to know who you are marrying, what do you expect? People just get this notion into their head that they want to get married or they need to or they are under pressure from family and they settle for the next person that comes along. How do you explain meeting someone and getting engaged within three months? That is all well and good, but understand that you can't know anyone in such a short amount of time and be prepare to stick it out when things start getting rough because it will get rough. If you are lucky and didn't end up with a psychopath, it will also get better. All marriages or relationships have rough patches. It can't be rosy 100% of the time. You can't just jump ship just because it's too difficult. What happened to the marriage vows?

The worst things is that people look up to these celebrities in a lot of ways. I think they should just ban them from getting married because it's not going to last anyway. I'm just irritated by it all. The institution of marriage has become a JOKE. I don't even know why anyone is bothering with preventing gays from getting married. What sanctity are they trying to preserve when the heterosexuals have made a mockery of it. Maybe the gays would be better at it. Just saying
